Tshwane licencing centres remain closed due to the ongoing strike by driving schools

Driving licencing testing centres (DLTCs) and motor vehicle registration offices remain closed due to an ongoing strike by the National Driving School Association of South Africa (NDSASA) which began on 24 February 2022.

Members of NDSASA have been protesting at various licencing centres throughout Gauteng, demanding that the online e-NaTIS booking system be cancelled.

As a result of the violence shown by protestors to both staff and clients, the City of Tshwane’s Roads and Transport Department took a decision to cease operations in order to protect lives and infrastructure.

Furthermore, the City is in the process of applying for a court interdict against the protesting NDSASA members to stop them from disrupting City operations.

Cllr Dikeledi Selowa, MMC for Roads and Transport said, “We will not tolerate lawlessness in Tshwane. Protesting driving schools should not be allowed to hold customers for ransom. I wish to convey my sincere apologies to customers who are inconvenienced by the interruptions.”

The following licencing centres have been closed until further notice:

• Region 1: Mabopane and Akasia DLTC

• Region 2: Temba DLTC

• Region 4: Centurion DLTC

• Region 5: Rayton DLTC

• Region 6: Waltloo DLTC

• Region 7: Bronkhorstspruit DLTC

The City will keep residents updated on new developments.
