Military puts security measures in place with implementation of access control between 10pm and 5am daily. Only residents will be allowed into the area during that time.
The South African Army said in a statement that they will ensure that more security measures are in place in order to ensure the safety of military personnel, civilians and infrastructure within Thaba Tshwane.
"In light of the above mentioned, it is hereby instituted as of 11 May 2023 going forth, that the main access routes into Thaba Tshwane (boom gates next to 1 Military Hospital, Military Police Station, Correctional Services and the Swartkop road) wil be closed and access will be controlled from 22:00 every night until 05:00 every morning."
"Residents will be liable to be searched, positively identify themselves and prove they are residents of the Thaba Tshwane Military area in order to gain access into the area. Members who do not reside in Thaba Tshwane will not be allowed access in between the foresaid timings."
"The recent criminal activities in our area must be a reminder to members that each and every one must work together in order to eliminate the element of criminality within Thaba Tshwane." Acting General Officer M.S Ntsewa said.
Motorists traveling through Thaba Tshwane are advised to use alternate routes during these times.
