City legend Joleon Lescott accompanied the trophy to South Africa.

Joleon Lescott spoke about how African football is strengthening. “I’ve played with South Africa’s Steven Pienaar at Everton, also with other great African footballers like Michael Essien and Yaya Touré.”

“My long term ambition is to become a sporting director in football. I want to put my knowledge of football to use and empower footballers to reach greater heights.”

Laudium Today asked Joleon Lescott about how young football players should deal with the scrutiny of stardom?

He said “These players are role models for what they do on the pitch and not because they’re mature adults yet.” Lescott went on further to say that “these young players should not be judged for their on-field mistakes but they should know that scrutiny is part of the game just as praise is.”

We also asked Lescott for how long he thinks City will still be dominating the English Premier League?

Lescott answered, “success at Manchester City isn’t luck, it was well planned for and their management is very good. The City group which backs Manchester City has become a global force and therefore ongoing success will be sustainable.”

Lescott recently completed his masters degree in sports directorship and most importantly wants to focus on youth development.

A live screening of Liverpool vs Man City and a football festival will take place on Sunday 16 October at Central Park, Century City, where fans will have the opportunity to:
