LWN keeping a girl child in school

The Laudium Women's Network hosted an educational and informative morning at the Omar H S Ebrahim Primary School in Lotus Gardens.

The grade seven girls were given valuable information on “reusable sanitary pads.”

The interactive programme was hosted with the girls so as to empower them to become more confident at the time of their menstrual cycle.

The girls were encouraged to support each other and to ensure that as future leaders they play a role in protecting the environment and not contribute to landfill sites with disposable sanitary towels.

Fun activities made this serious topic light hearted.

The LWN embarked on this project in 2021 and has successfully been distributing reusable sanitary pads to young girls who need it most. The motivation is to keep the girl child in school and grant her the dignity to come to school. Despite sanitary pads being an essential item for every young girl and woman, it is an expensive item and unaffordable for many.

Each grade 7 learner was given a goody pack, which contained:

- a pack of 6 reusable pads

- a plastic basin

- sunlight soap

- salt

And a variety of refreshments.

The LWN takes the opportunity to thank all their donors and sponsors who so generously contribute towards their projects, in “BUILDING THE COMMUNITY TOGETHER”
