Residents of Itireleng were without power for about 24 hours
Local community WhatsApp groups was abuzz with calls for assistance in Extension 3 as no protection and visibility from SAPS was found on Tuesday night after protestors threw bricks into residents yards and towards moving vehicles.
Laudium Today asked Police spokesperson Sergeant Simon Chokoe why did SAPS take over an hour to respond. He said, “no comment.”
Residents got together and had to defend the City’s infrastructure without the assistance of police from protestors when they began burning electric poles and tried sabotaging the mini substation in Delhi Avenue.
According to the Laudium CPF, protestors shot at residents, security and some CPF members. Residents retaliated by shooting in the air.

Councillor Patel and his assistant Shakeel Bhaktawar addressed the protestors and assured them that they have been trying to assist the Itireleng community in getting their power restored throughout Tuesday.
He explained residents that the current situation in the Tshwane council has resulted in a lack of service delivery.
Protestors dispersed peacefully before loadshedding kicked in.
PAJ Community Patrollers, COPS Tactical, Khans Tactical, Pro Active, Team SSS, Monitor Net and Vision Tactical together with the Laudium CPF and residents maintained visibility throughout the loadshedding period to ensure safety in the area.
The poor service delivery in Tshwane has caused frustration to many residents with different service delivery issues being prolonged for days.
