Laudium man sentenced to five years for stabbing a woman in Umber Street

Laudium Police welcomed the conviction of accused N.Pillay for attempted murder which was handed out at the Atteridgeville Magistrate Court on Friday, 19 August 2022.


N.Pillay was sentenced to five years imprisonment, however, the sentence was wholly suspended for five years on condition that the accused is not convicted for the same offence during the period of suspension.


Sergeant Mamabolo managed to secure a five year imprisonment. Wholly suspended for five years on condition that the accused is not convicted of the same offence.


The accused was declared unfit to possess a firearm.


In a separate incident, police welcomed the conviction of M.E. Mashilo for driving under the influence of alcohol.


The accused was arrested in June 2021 in the Itireleng informal settlement while police were patrolling the area.


The accused was sentenced to 9 months imprisonment suspended for five years on condition that the accused is not convicted of the same offence again, or pay a R4 000 fine.


The conviction was handed out at the Atteridgeville Magistrate court on Friday, 19 August 2022.


Station Commander Lieutenant Colonel David Sithole welcomed the sentencing of both the accused. He said that this should serve as a lesson that the long arm of the law will always catch up with those who think that they can commit crime and get away with it.
