Last night's extreme weather caused chaos and destruction after powerful winds swept through the region.
The high winds knocked over trees and even caused a brick wall at a block of flats in Jewel Street to collapse onto two parked cars. Additionally, a couple of houses suffered damage as their roofs were blown away by the strong gusts of wind.
The overhead power lines were not spared either, as a few snapped during the storm, leaving residents without electricity in Laudium, Erasmia and Gerhardsville. Despite the challenging conditions, volunteers from the Laudium Disaster Management team sprang into action, working tirelessly through the night to clear roadways of fallen trees and offer assistance to those affected by the damages.
