This past weekend, at the Raffle Heads Social event, local angler Fareed Bayat, member of Wet Dreams Fishing made waves with an extraordinary catch. The event took place at Roodekoppies Dam, Soetdoring, on the 24th of February. Using a skinned tjop tjop tiger nut and a pineapple popup as bait, Fareed's fishing experience took an unexpected turn.
As the sun rose on Saturday morning and the club members prepared for breakfast, little did they know that a remarkable fishing tale was about to unfold. At 7:45, Fareed's rod suddenly came to life, signaling the start of an epic battle between man and fish.
The struggle between angler and carp captivated onlookers, who eagerly speculated on the weight of the elusive catch. After a grueling two and a half hours, the fish finally revealed itself, leaving everyone in awe. Club members hurried to weigh the fish, and the realization dawned upon them – Fareed had shattered his personal best with a colossal carp weighing in at 15.9 kgs, surpassing his previous record of 9.6 kgs.
