Laudium is abuzz with excitement as the community rallies to celebrate and honour one of its finest sons.
Justice Jody Kollapen will be feted on Friday evening 4 March when the Pretoria Legacy Foundation hosts a public event to mark his appointment to a pinnacle position of our judiciary, the Constitutional Court.
The event takes place at the Seva Samaj Auditorium where guests are expected to arrive from 7pm onwards.
Ismail Abramjee, the spokesperson of the Legacy Foundation describes the coming event as the most significant event to be held in the area since the advent of our democracy.
The spokesperson also said that several high-ranking dignitaries from both the judiciary, civil society and NGO’s will be attending.
Daya Chetty, chairperson of the foundation, thanked the community for their support and called on all those wishing to attend the function to do so early, as the event is expected to draw large crowds. Seating will be available on a first-come first-seated basis.
The theme for the event will be set from 7pm onwards when members of the Pretoria Muslim Youth Brigade will march from the Laudium CBD to the function venue.

The prestigious event will also showcase the work of the foundation and several of its projects for this year will be announced.
The evening is being billed as fun-filled event featuring classical Indian dancing and contemporary music.
Recently appointed Pretoria High Court Judge Harshila Kooverjie will also be honoured.
A tribute on the contribution of another Laudium stalwart, the late Chief Justice Ismail Mahomed will also be delivered by his niece, Aneesha Mahomed, a director of a large Pretoria law firm.
Several local based community organisations will also pay homage to Justice Kollapen for his extraordinary commitment to community work.
