Two residents of Erasmia were mugged in broad daylight while walking along Lenchen street at around 09:00 on Wednesday.

According to one of the victims, the suspect was wearing a blue overall and armed with a gun. He was also extremely angry and aggressive," she said.

“He came up to us and demanded cellphones. We told him that we are not carrying any cellphones with us. He then told us to give him our shoes and caps. He took that and ran off into the bush.” she added.

Speaking to Laudium Today, a resident said, "Just a month ago, a cyclist was robbed on this very same route. Residents have been asked to pay towards the walling project. This will prevent criminals from running easily into the bush."

The community are urged to be vigilant while walking, jogging and cycling along Lenchen and Verster streets and should rather use the inner streets.
