Angel Helping Hands (AHH) is a registered NPO (2020/084915/08) rooted in Laudium since August 2019, but has nationwide responses, created to inspire, empower and celebrate active citizenship in the community. It’s main objective is to lift the spirit of the community by inspiring others to contribute to positive change, become involved and start doing - because a nation of people who care deeply for one another, and the environment in which they live, is good for everyone. The community-based project’s aim is to provide support and assistance in the basic needs of poverty-stricken families.

The non-racial, non-denominational, non-sectionalism criteria under which AHH operates, has had a tremendous impact on the people who contribute to the coffers of AHH. Their contributions enable AHH to minister and make the difference in the lives of families that are in dire need. AHH is extremely grateful to the people who empower it to carry out altruistic deeds in the community.

Prior to the onset of the COVID-19 virus, members of AHH were visibly involved in the community in fund-raising activities. All of this has been put on hold due to safety issues of its members. However, some members of AHH are still actively involved in the preparation and serving of food in the different areas in Gauteng. Despite the virus, AHH has continued to assist the families who were previously dependent on the physical hampers. On presentation of a valid identity document at a local supermarket, recipients are presented with a R500 food voucher which is redeemable for groceries to the value of R500.

Over the past two and a half years, AHH has organised several drives at opportune and appropriate times. The most recent drives were a stationery and school shoes drive (Jan 2020), followed by a Diwali biscuit drive (Oct 2020), and currently hampers being allocated after a successful Christmas meal drive. This drive is to ensure that indigent families can look forward to at least one decent meal over the festive season. The hampers contains the following items:

- 2kg mixed chicken portions

- 1kg mixed frozen veg

- 2kg rice

- 400g can baked beans

- 420g can peaches

- 1 litre juice

- 1 litre custard

A total number of 500 families from the following areas will be issued with hampers over the next few days:

Lotus Gardens (60)

Laudium (155)

Lenasia (100)

Eersterust (50)

Omega Church Ministries (30)

Laudium Frail Care (25)

Benoni Caravan Park (80)

AHH is incredibly grateful to the many donors who contribute in to make this potential drives a reality albeit in these challenging times. “We humbly thank our sponsors for their continued and faithful support of all the drives initiated by AHH”
